G6 Power 100

Q. My G6 seems to have a bad flat spot when I open the throttle from idle to full throttle. If I pump the throttle I can get it to pick up, but it takes 2 or 3 pumps on the throttle to get full throttle, this is why I suspect the reed valve. I have cleaned the carb, and adjusted the mixture. Do you have any experience of this? Are the carb settings very sensitive on these?

A.  My G6 also have a flat spot, although I don't need to pump the accelerator, I just have a 1 or 2 second delay. This is caused by a known problem with the Walbro 32 carb, and yes the tuning is very sensitive, you must get it exactly right (by trial and error) to get the best from this engine.
There is a modification that should help with this problem. See here:
http://www.aerocorsair.com/id37.htm
but I have tried this modification and although it did help with the flat spot problem, after doing it the engine was quite difficult to start. Rather than modifying the carb, I prefer to screw in the low idle screw to make the low idle mixture lean, this is fairly safe to do on the Low screw, but don't do it on the High screw. As you screw in 1/16 of a turn at a time, and test you will find the engine becomes more responsive, if you screw in too far the engine will become difficult to start, you will need to prime the carb every time you want to start, but by trial and error you can find the best setting for this screw. When you have this set lean, the flat spot will be minimized. I t is best not to leave the engine idling for long periods.

Q-      Are the Fly engines used by other paramotor manufacturers?

A-      Yes the motor is used by the German manufacturer 'Microstar', the Czech manufacturer 'Air Gate' the Spanish company's 'PAP' and 'Airfer' are using it in their VR130 and VR200 models, and will soon be appearing in models from other well known manufacturers

Q-      Does the price include harness ?

A-      Yes a DULV certified harness

Q-    How do I connect a battery charger to the new type battery packs

A-

1. Unscrew the blue part of the charging male connector.

2. Place the black part of the charging male into the female charging connector on battery box – you must to push it in and turn it.

3. Use voltmeter to measure which contact is plus and which is minus on the black part of the charging connector - it should read anywhere from 12V - 13 V.

4. Use voltmeter to measure, which contact is plus and which is minus on the wires from your 12 V charger - it should read more then 13 V. NOTE: Use 12 V 50 mA charger only.

5. Feed the wires from charger through the blue part of the charging connector and through the black part that will pinch wires.

6. Connect the plus wire from charger to the plus terminal contact on the male charging connector

7. Connect the minus wire from charger to the minus terminal contact on the male charging connector

8. Charge only till the machine starts - do not leave the machine on the charger
